For those having off days or for non-skiers we can help arrange a variety of activities such as tours to various sites (Joetsu area, Snow Monkeys, Zenkoji Temple, Lake Nojiri, Togakushi, Nozawa Onsen, ice fishing, shopping tours, etc.), as well as cultural activities – cooking classes, flower arranging, tea ceremony and the like.
Myoko backcountry tours and evening snowshoe tours can be arranged prior to your arrival or at reception once you are here.

What Myoko events are there?
events myoko ski resort openingThere are a number of Myoko events in the area or organised in-house such as the following:
Mid December : Myokokogen ski jinja matsuri (shrine festival). Enjoy the opening ceremony for all Myokokogen ski resorts (see photo right).
December 24 : Celebrate with other guests with a white Christmas Eve celebration for Red Warehouse guests.
December 31 : Late night ski and fireworks at Madarao Mountain Resort. The lifts stay open until 11.45 pm followed by a fireworks display.
January 1 : Welcome the sunrise at Akakan gondola station plus dawn ski. Get up early and catch the Sky Cable before the sun rises. See the videos below for a taster
January 15 : Trip to the famous Nozawa Fire Festival (see photo right & video above right). This festival is amongst the three most famous fire festivals in Japan. We organise a mini-bus for our guests to see the festival.
Mid-January : We take guests across to the Dontoyaki Snow & Fire Festival at Suginohara (see photo at top and video above) where they can enjoy the fireworks and free sample food/sake.
Mid-January : Akakan Sake Ice Bar (see photo at top). For 2,000 yen we can sample all you can drink local sake. Food is also available.
February : Kamakura Festival of Lights at Akakan Resort. Held at the same location as the Sake Ice Bar.
March : Japan’s oldest ski festival at Seki Onsen. Features a flare run and fireworks.
